Spotted turtles
I have been keeping spotted turtles on and off since 1998 or 99. The first pair I aquired was from Chris Hanson in Boca Raton, Fl in August of 1998 or 99. I unfortunately do not have any pics of them. This first spotted I have a pic of is one purchased the same August at Glades Herps when they were in Ft. Meyers, Fl.
This is my current group of spotteds. The first group was aquired in 2004 from Leon, a guy in Tennessee. The second group was aquired in 2007 from Lee, a local guy here in Iowa. His mistake, my gain!

Their winter tanks
These are 40 gallon critter cages. These cages are not recommended to hold water, but it is only 3 inches at most For the most part there is no filtration. I change the water every 2 days. Gives me a chance to keep an eye on them and make sure everything is going good.
These guys all go out around May and by that time they have stopped laying hopefully. I try not to get more than one clutch from them per season. And yes, they do lay in that land area. I have had plants there but they just tear it all up. I water it when I change the water. It is about 70%/30% peat/sand mix. Works great for me. When I find eggs I just take the whole nest, laying material and all. I figure if they liked the humidity and everything then it will do me just fine.
