China

These are my thoughts.  They are not by any means to be taken out of context or construed a different way.  If you disagree, good, that is why all humans are different.  I do not care and at the same time, I do not want to hear about it.  This is not a forum for your thoughts.

I am mainly interested in  turtles and snakes so I will be focusing on them, sorry all you lizard and amphibian lovers.  I will however also include photos of other species of animals seen at the wild animal markets in China.  Unless otherwise specified I have taken all pictures on this website.

I am not propagating for or against the practice of T.C.M. (Traditional Chinese Medicine) or the eating of reptiles.  The Chinese have been around as a culture and people for thousands of years and T.C.M. has been around at least as long as China has had a written language.  So, I cannot and will not judge an entire culture.  We in the west do things that can seem just as stupid, so we should not judge a group of people for what they do.  We can however try and educate them and show them what the impact will be if their behaviour is not altered.

My goal and I hope that other hobbyist goal is the long-term survival of ALL animals. Concentrating on sound captive-management with the goal of producing as many offspring as possible and to help in the global effort of saving the habitat that these animals live in.

I must apologize in advance for the use of Latin. The use of Latin names are commonplace among hobbyist in most countries. This is a very good practice because it makes conversing with non-native English speakers a lot easier, that is, as long as they also know the Latin names of species in question.

Furthermore, I used made a simple website making it easier for me to keep it up to date.
