07 Painted Turtle female

Chrysemys picta picta

This is the female the painted turtle eggs were collected from.

Believe it or not but her heart was still beating when I picked her up off the road.

She was picked up off Hwy 100 just north of Oakville, Iowa on the north side of the Iowa river.

No water for miles is what it looked like, unless she came from a farmers stock tank or pond.

Note: I am working in conjunction with Wapsi River Wildlife Project. All work was overseen by licensed wildlife rehabbers.
